I’ll just say it: sales reps today are way too comfortable hiding behind emails and LinkedIn messages. Don’t get me wrong, digital tools are amazing. But when was the last time a prospect said, "Wow, that automated sequence really made me feel understood!"

Today's reality is that a lot of salespeople now lack experience speaking with prospects and clients over the phone. The phone...remember that thing? It’s where relationships are built, objections come to life, and you learn to think on your feet. But here’s the thing - talking takes practice. You can’t just pick up the phone and expect magic if all you’ve been doing is tweaking subject lines.

Role-play calls with your team. Practice active listening. Ask for feedback. (And no, "How are you today?" doesn’t count as a genuine question.)The reps who master live conversations will crush the ones who rely on hiding behind screens. Pick up the phone. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. That’s where the deals are.
